A-Z Food Cravings: Dimsum/Momo

As I was looking for the perfect food item that would fit D, I came across dimsum. Well Dimsum is a chinese dish. I have hardly tried it out and was hesitant. Then a quick visit to the wiki page made me understand that Momo is the Tibetian name for the same dish. It is sort of a steamed bun with varied filling (mostly chicken or veg mix) eaten with the usual ketchup or any other condiments.

It is a fun fast food. But I fell in love with this dish when I was in Bangalore. This one particular food stall had a variant of momos. They had deep fried momos that had prawn stuffing. I thought I will try it out and oh my god! I am so hooked now. The steamed bun was fried and then presented with ketchup, mayonnaise and one other chutney.

People would generally look at me weird when I say this though. That I like crispy fried momo. I mean the whole goodness of this dish is the steam cooked taste and softness only. But I like it crispy on the outside, nice and soft on the inside.

Happy eating!

Yeah, I’m not a fan of fried momos. Haven’t tried it but I generally don’t like fried stuff. But momos???? Yum, yum. I first had them in a Tibetan restaurant in Dharamshala. We went there for lunch and for dinner and had the same thing ?
